Brighton and Hove Albion were one of the best performers in the Championship last term and were the first side to clinch promotion to the top flight, even ahead of the eventual champions Newcastle United. However, they have failed to show the same form in the Premier League and it has been more of a disastrous debut season for the Seagulls with only two wins to their names so far.
However, the manager at the helm of the Premier League debutants, Chris Hughton, is looking confident of redemption in the future but is well aware of the fact that his side will have to dish out better performances to help achieve the feat.
The Englishman is also wary of the defensive lineup he has at his disposal and might be looking to add a few more players to the side who can help them get some useful points in the future.
Among a number of players who can be recruited as a goalkeeper for their side, the name of the Spanish youngster Pau Lopez is at the top of the target list for the Seagulls manager. He is well aware of the brilliant ball-handling abilities of the 22-year-old and might bid for him in the next transfer window.
The Seagulls have already conceded nine goals so far this season in their first seven matches and are looking to gett someone as efficient as Pau under their crossbars in January. It has been a bad season so far in terms of results for Brighton, who have already lost four matches consecutively, jeopardising their chances to stay in the top flight in their debut.
Pau Lopez is currently playing for the La Liga outfit Espanyol and has made a name for himself as one of the most dependable figures beneath the crossbars in Spanish football. He has appeared on 56 occasions for the Spanish outfit in all competitions and has been eyed by a number of clubs from the La Liga as well as the other leagues in Europe.
With other Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Watford also keeping a keen eye on the player, the Seagulls are trying their level best to make the young custodian sign for them in the next transfer window in an effort to strengthen their backline. But can he be the answer to their woes?
