Brazilian winger Malcom has been linked with a move to Arsenal according to reports. The 20-year-old winger who is currently playing for French club FC Girondins Bordeaux has previously been linked to Inter Milan and Wolfsburg. Latest reports now have linked the player with a move to Old Trafford as well.
The player moved to France in 2016 and has since gone on to impress many people around Europe. He is off to a very impressive start this season and has already scored 5 Ligue 1 goals this season.
The versatile winger can play on either wing or in attack and has also featured for Brazil’s U-20 and U-23 sides. Arsenal scout has identified the dynamic young winger as a potential replacement and it is now being reported that Arsene Wenger wants to bring in the 20-year-old in January for 30m euros. Arsene Wenger believes the arrival of Malcom will pave the way for the exit of Alexis Sanchez.
Malcom’s transfer would be an interesting one especially if Wenger wants the winger to replace superstar Alexis Sanchez. Malcom has impressed everyone so far but he is still untested in the big waters. He is yet to play for a major European club on a regular basis as a first-team regular.
Malcom, at 20, has time on his side and if Wenger does bring him in, he will hope that the winger can go on to make it big and live up to his potential.
Arsenal have had an average start to the season and with the Sanchez saga yet to sort itself out, the club seems to be waiting for an impending doom. Sanchez is yet to sign an extension on his contract and with his contract running out at the end of the current season there has been talk about the Chilean heading for the exit door.
Manchester City were one of the many suitors who wanted the Arsenal superstar and their deadline day bid was initially accepted but then later rebuffed by Arsenal who could not bring in a suitable replacement for Sanchez.
There is talk again of the Sanchez deal going through again in January and if the player does leave, Wenger will want an impact player instantly to keep up the quality to his Arsenal side.Whether Malcom, at the age of 20, is the right choice for that it remains to be seen.
