Leeds United bled red again as they failed to propel themselves up following their 2-1 defeat at the hand of Sheffield United at the weekend. The Whites have been in a slump and gaffer Thomas Christiansen needs to shake up things before it gets out of his hand.
Leeds are scheduled to meet Derby County in the Championship and by no means, they can take this match lightly. The Whites were on a dream start as they were undefeated following their stupendous seven-match run but since then, they failed to have a similar impact.
They registered just two wins and seven losses in the following seven games, which have somewhat put the fans on the verge of anxiety. The promotion hopes have been long due for the last 13 years and this could be the best chance for them to have their pride back.
They seem to be falling into a pit yet again and they cannot afford further slip-ups which could dent a big blow to their promotion hopes.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leeds United Starting Lineup Against Sheffield United
Defence
Andy Lonergan will take his place in the Whites goal. The 34-year-old has been the preferred choice for the manager and the gaffer is likely to rely on his once again.
Perhaps it’s the time to bring back Pontus Jansson to the starting lineup. The 26-year-old is probably the best defender available at Christiansen’s disposal and if the manager wants to shake things up he would be needed the service of the defender.
Liam Cooper and Jansson should be in the backline. Gaetano Berardi is carrying a suspension and Vurnon Anita should make his way to the starting lineup. Luke Ayling will be on the right side of the defence.
Midfield
Ronaldo Vieira’s progressive thinking has helped Leeds in this ongoing season. The next few matches are going to decide Leeds’ fate and he can turn things around for the Yorkshire giants.
When Promotion is at stake, Christiansen cannot take a risk with his game plan. Eunan O’Kane will be trying to put things into order in the middle of the pitch.
Attack
Kalvin Phillips has impressed in the number 10 role but is out with a suspension. Samu Saiz will be pushed into the no.10 role which will see Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas play on either flank.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga had a forgettable game in the last match and would try to make amends in this match. This is how they might line up:
