Bayern Munich are finally back on track! The Bavarians champions have managed to get out of their stuttering start to the season after they retook their customary number one spot in the Bundesliga table this weekend. Saturday’s victory over RB Leipzig, mean that the German champions are still unbeaten under the tutelage of newly appointed boss Jupp Heynckes.
The 72-year-old veteran coach will look to continue his side’s brilliant form as they travel to Glasgow this midweek to face Celtic in the UEFA Champions League. Bayern are currently second in their group standings and a win will further solidify their chance to qualify for the next round. Celtic, however, on the other hand, will be eager to restore their chances to finishing second, with a strong showing against the German league leaders.
Here’s the predicted Bayern Munich lineup to face Celtic on Tuesday.
Defense
Despite a difficult start to the season, Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has been in tremendous form of late. His stunning penalty save against Leipzig sealed them a ticket to the Round 3 of the DFB Pokal last midweek. He will start in goal for Bayern once again.
Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels are expected to retain their spot in the centre back positions. Both of them were quite solid in the convincing win against Leipzig. Joshua Kimmich, however, might make way for Rafinha, as Heynckes looks to shuffle his back before the big encounter against Dortmund next weekend. David Alaba will occupy the left back position.
Midfield
Sebastian Rudy is likely to keep his place in the starting eleven. The German International looked very impressive against Leipzig. Rudy is expected to partner Thiago Alcantara in the central midfield spot.
The former Hoffenheim midfielder will look to keep up his brilliant form, as he looks to nail down a starting berth against Borussia Dortmund next weekend.
Attack
We might see a massive re-shuffle in the attacking department for Bayern this midweek. Star striker Robert Lewandowski limped off against Leipzig and is more than likely to be rested for the clash against Celtic.
Replacing the Polish International will be a challenging task for coach Jupp Heynckes. James Rodriguez, who was on fire against Leipzig might just be fully fit to start vs Celtic. The Colombian might play down the role of a false nine in Lewandowski’s absence.
Elsewhere in the attack, Arjen Robben and Kingsley Coman will start as wingers, with Corentin Tolisso to be deployed as an attacking midfielder.
