David Wagner must be happy following his side’s resurgent form in the Premier League. The Terriers have been buoyed by their famous win over Manchester United and would be ready for a tricky showdown when they face Liverpool at the Anfield.
The Reds are a disjointed outfit currently following the 4-1 thrashing they received at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur and this could be the best opportunity for David Wagner to pile more misery on his best friend Jurgen Klopp as they come face to face for the first time in the English top flight.
The Terriers had an exceptional start to the season as they have won three, lost three and drawn three matches so far which is a very commendable performance given the stiff competitions in the Premier League this season. Also, let us not forget Huddersfield Town are a newly promoted side and at the beginning of the season they were the bookies favourite to be relegated.
Liverpool’s defensive frailties got heavily exploited in the last match and Wagner must have taken a note of that. He does have players at his disposal who can impose a serious threat on the Reds backline.
Predicted 4-1-4-1 Huddersfield Town Starting Lineup Vs Liverpool
Defence
Jonas Lössl has had his influence this season as Wagner has relied on him heavily. Liverpool have one of the fiercest attacking contingents in the top tier so Lössl needs to be very aware of their threat.
Christopher Schindler has shored up the defence with his intelligent positioning sense and solid physicality. He will have the assistance of Zanka in the backline.
Tom Smith has been very reliable on the right side of defence and will need to be at his very best to deal with the threat of Philippe Coutinho.
Chris Löwe will be on the opposite side of defence as the responsibility of keeping Mohamed Salah at bay will be on him.
Midfield
Jonathan Hogg will position himself just in front of the backline to assure things won’t get out of control. Klopp has a well-oiled midfield trio so Hogg’s role might just determine the result of the match.
Aaron Mooy displayed his ability in the last match and will try to bully the Liverpool defence to the best of his ability. Danny Williams has also been quite proficient in his role and would try to keep the possession of the ball as much as he can. No mean task given that the opponent is Liverpool.
Attack
Tom Ince has made valuable contributions this season and will try to keep things simple from the left wing.
Elias Kachunga has given the Terriers a new dimension since his inception in this team and will hope to take his chances if and when they fall to him.
Laurent Depoitre has been a revelation since he has arrived and is likely to inflict more humiliation on the Reds defence. He will be the lone striker up front.
