A dilemma for the ages, youth or experience. Any football manager who has tasked the challenges of handling a team and succeeded has faced the problem of choosing youth over experience or vice versa.
Most managers have a definite style of management and regardless of the club they go to, they stick to their philosophies and try to implement their style on the club.
Jurgen Klopp is one such man who backs himself and his ideas. The tall, imposing German introduced the world to his heavy-metal football with a group of youngsters who have gone on to become world beaters now.
The normal one, now at Liverpool, intends to repeat his tactics but with things not going too well for him, he might now turn to a few of the many talented youngsters currently at the club. Here are 3 players that deserve to get more, first-team game time at Anfield under Klopp:
Marko Grujic:
Considered to be the “new Nemanja Matic” for his tall, dominating figure and his silent but effective displays on the pitch, Grujic is one player who is yet to kick off his career at Liverpool. After Klopp personally called the 21-year old to convince him to join Liverpool during the 2015-16 season, the box to box midfielder was sent back on loan for the rest of the season and made his Liverpool debut next season.
He has only played 12 games for the club and is perhaps deserving of more game time under the German, given the fact that he adds a certain steel to any midfield and along with his good range of passing, can be an asset to the Liverpool attack, which will then be relieved of its’ defensive responsibilities.
Rhian Brewster:
What a change a few weeks can make. Brewster left for India as a Liverpool youth academy player and now returns with a World Cup Winners medal, a Golden Boot in his cabinet and a world of confidence to make it big, now for his club. The young forward scored 8 goals in the FIFA U-17 World Cup and is now ready to experience training and travelling with the first team and if possible, maybe even some minutes on the pitch to accelerate his growth.
Benjamin Woodburn:
The 18-year old wonderkid from Liverpool has made the headlines for all the right reasons. Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer has seen a meteoric rise to his career and has already broken into the Welsh national team set-up. He has also drawn praise from both his national team manager Chris Coleman and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who admitted that they are “singing big songs” about the 18-year old.
The newly eligible adult will want to learn under Klopp’s tutelage and providing him with first-team football will see the Welshman develop rather rapidly as Klopp knows a thing or two about developing young strikers, as a certain Robert Lewandowski will tell you.
