Bournemouth did not have the start they were hoping for this season. Eddie Howe’s side is currently stuttering in the relegation zone and it is going to be a difficult road for the Cherries. Although they have enough time to turn things around, there are not too many encouraging signs for them.
This is their third season running in the Premier League, which itself is a big achievement for Howe. The English manager has led the team all the way from League One and following their promotion to the top tier, they have been on a good run in the last couple of seasons.
Fans were worried that the Cherries might get demoted to the second tier sooner but it was Howe’s efficient stewardship that led the South Coast club all the way to the current scenario.
Howe needs to settle a few things to stay afloat in the Premier League and he could target the January transfer window to bring in a few reinforcements.
Here is a list of three players Howe might consider to look at:
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal):
There is a lack quality in the middle of the park for the Cherries and Howe can rectify it by calling on Jack Wilshere. Despite speculations throughout the summer, the English international remained on the books for Arsenal but lack of game time hasn’t done justice to his quality and Howe could use this opportunity to make a move for the midfielder.
Wilshere had a season-long stint at the Vitality Stadium and could be a perfect fit for the Cherries. He is a bit injury prone but he has worked on his fitness and we have seen that in the last season. His salary could raise an issue for the Cherries but they have shown their ambitious approach recently so it shouldn’t be a problem for them.
Demarai Gray (Leicester City):
The Leicester City winger could be a very viable option for the Cherries. Their recent performances looked like they need some cutting edge on the flanks and Gray showed he can perform on a consistent basis. The Foxes have used him sporadically this season and Bournemouth could lure him with extra game time to offer.
Danny Ings (Liverpool):
The Liverpool striker is working his way towards full fitness and on his day, he can create havoc in the opposition ranks. Despite bringing Jermaine Defoe, Bournemouth seem to be missing a magic touch up front and Ings could deliver for them in this crisis situation.
