A disappointing draw against Burnley at Wembley should have served as something for which Tottenham needed to respond to and also with title rivals convincingly winning their games, Pochettino and his team travelled to the Goodison needing a positive result and they certainly got it. They put up a terrific performance which completely outshone the home side. A brace from Harry Kane and a sweet finish from Eriksen from near the goal won it for Spurs. Here’s how their team has been rated:-
GK: Hugo Lloris – 7/10
Had an excellent defence in front of him and had basic stuff to do all evening. Clean-sheet is always a great positive.
RWB: Kieran Trippier – 7/10
Has to reduce on the number of silly fouls he makes at times but this was a performance which was much better than that of Wembley. He created an attacking dimension down the right and was effective while defending. Good display and he should keep this consistency.
CB: Toby Alderweireld – 7/10
Solid once again has he kept Sandro and the Everton force at a distance.
CB: Jan Vertonghen – 7/10
Hardly put a foot wrong and the defending today was too easy for him as he cut out a lot of predictable attacks from Everton.
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 7.5/10
Completely impressed on the debut with a performance dripping with composure. He was tidy and if things go well, his partnership with his fellow Belgian defenders can be phenomenal.
LWB: Ben Davies – 7.5/10
He was simply excellent today. His deliveries always looked troublesome and he got his assist for Kane’s second with a sweet cross. Top display!
CDM: Eric Dier – 7/10
Not the one who really comes forward in the game but yes he does his job effectively and silently. Dier’s versatile nature comes in handy and today was an example.
CM: Moussa Sissoko – 6/10
Probably the least impressive in that white shirt. Did nothing extraordinary and played along as the game went on. Only positive is that he brings good depth to the team.
LF: Dele Alli – 8/10
His drive and ball control is impeccable at times. Should have taken the few chances he got but he certainly looked threatening on several occasions.
RF: Christian Eriksen – 9/10
On his day Eriksen is a beautiful, beautiful player. Ran the show majority of the times, kept a firm grip on proceedings and got into an excellent position to be alert on the rebound and score. A lovely display from the Dane.
ST: Harry Kane – 8.5/10
Got lucky with his first goal but he would have been delighted his August drought was over. His second goal was a delightful finish after an accurate cross. Great with link up play and always looks like a complete centre-forward. Spurs fans would only hope this is a platform for him to get going on a scoring spree.
