Tottenham Hotspur kept it very late, to sum up their transfer business in the summer. The North London clubs had been pretty quiet in the entire summer transfer window but roped in a number of players in a quick succession at the last moment to rejig their side.
Mauricio Pochettino has still been engaged in a pursuit of a number of players as he looks to continue the search for new exciting talents for his side. According to reports, The Argentine gaffer sent scouts to keep a tab on Anderson Talisca of Besiktas. Representatives of the North London club were in the stands when Besiktas got the better of Porto in a Champions League group stage match.
Talisca arrived in Turkey last season on a two-year loan from Benfica and got his feet calling from the very first day. The 23-year-old attacker netted 17 times in all competitions last season which hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Spurs boss.
A number of big clubs have been his development but are yet to make any move from him. Liverpool came very close to signing him and even were ready to pay a sum of £20 million but the move got cancelled due to a visa problem.
Tottenham Hotspur does have one of the most envious attacking lineups which boast of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen but the likes of Heung Min-Son and Erik Lamela have been on and off with their form.
Son started this season in an exciting fashion while Lamela is yet to recover from his injury. Moussa Sissoko had a forgettable spell last season and there is a big chance he might be offloaded in January. So Pochettino does have the need for another attacker and the Brazilian fits the bill perfectly. The versatile playmaker can be deployed on a number of positions and is very flexible in all formations.
Talisca is pretty much settled in Turkey now and is likely to command a permanent move from Benfica. Besiktas don’t have the financial power to match their demand so Spurs have a realistic chance to land the player.
Pochettino has a very young squad right now as he is building a squad capable of taking on with the European heavyweights in upcoming days and Talisca could be a part of this project. Taking into consideration the situation of the modern day market, £20 million would be an absolute bargain for a powerful striker.
