In Swansea City’s history, there have been a number of young energetic Scottish players who played their part for the club and it seems the Wales outfit is going to bring another Scottish youngster at the Liberty Stadium.
If reports are to be believed the Wales giants are planning to make an offer for Greenock Morton winger Jai Quitongo. The 20-year-old has been a sensation, with his excellent displays on the football pitch and a number of clubs have been vying for his service.
The Scotland U-21 international has been in blistering form for the Scottish Championship side and scored a brilliant goal in their 5-0 thrashing of Queen of the South last week. The youngster has been on top of his game and has been pretty consistent for his club. The numbers speak volumes about his quality as the young prodigy has already scored two times and has laid another three goals for his side.
He must have been inspired by his father who used to play on the flanks for Benfica. The Scott’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of this season which has made him a very lucrative prospect. His current side eagerly want the player to stay and are ready to extend his stay at the club but the club’s financial condition might force them to sell if a club like Swansea arrives with an exciting offer for the player.
League One side Doncaster Rovers came very close to signing him, as they had made a bid only to see it being knocked back by the club. A number of clubs like Brighton & Hove Albion, Prston North End and Crystal Palace are sniffing around the player for some time.
Quitongo is very energetic has the pace to match the demand of the Premier League. Basically a centre-forward, he can also play on the wings. Swansea aren’t well equipped in the wide section following the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson. They didn’t sign anyone to fill the boots of Sigurdsson and Quitongo could be that player to fill his place.
Swansea have a number of young players like Tammy Abraham and Renato Sanches and if he does arrive, he will inject a great amount of positivity to the side. Paul Clement badly needs some momentum for the season and this player can deliver it.
One of the brightest talent to have emerged from the land of Scotland he is expected to break into the senior setup very soon as well but can he be a hit for the Swans.
