Swansea City are hot on the heels of St Mirren attacking midfielder Lewis Morgan. The 20-year-old has been pretty excellent since the last season and a number of clubs have been in the line to rope him.
The youngster broke into the scene last season and has continued his uprise this season too. Partially due to his excellent form St Mirren are placed second in the Scottish Championship table currently. The 20-year-old has followed up his last season’s stupendous form and has already found the net four times this season.
His proven goalscoring record earned him a call-up to the Scotland U-21 squad. The youngster was snapped up by the Scottish club back in 2012 from Rangers and went on to establish himself in the big stages.
Premiership club Celtic and Rangers are also battling for his signature. These two old rivals will eventually come face to face next weekend in the most anticipated old firm derby.
Burton Albion came very close towards securing his signature as they had made an offer of £200,000 for the youngster but it wasn’t enough for them to tempt the club into selling him.
The youngster has a contract till 2019 but that shouldn’t be a problem for Swansea City who are on a roll following their goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.
He is also being monitored by Cardiff City and his recent performances have alerted the clubs. St Mirren are aware that they will struggle to keep a hold of the former Rangers academy product but they succeeded in keeping the player as of now.
However in the coming winter when clubs will come calling for his signature the club might give it a shot to cash in on the youngster. Morgan was promoted to the senior team back in 2014 and he was very quick to adapt to the senior team.
Following the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente Swans are currently a bit misplaced in the attacking department and Paul Clement would welcome any player to the side.
St Mirren are currently undefeated in the last five games and some of the credit goes to this player. As things stand the Saints are looking favourites to get a promotion to the first division and if they manage to do so they would be needed the service of the player.
