Swansea City were quite busy in the transfer market as Paul Clement wanted to have more players at his disposal from the start of the season. The Swans gave the relegation scare a kiss as they survived the drop under the stewardship of Clement last season.
The former associate of Carlo Ancelotti was handed the reign in a very crucial time and had a very little time to react but he used all his coaching brains to steer the Swans towards safety.
But this season Clement has been in the dugout from the start despite which his side have been struggling clearly. Clement missed some of his potential signings and might revive his interest in the winter transfer window.
According to reports, Clement is likely to raid Barnsley again for the services of Andy Yiadom. The right-back had almost joined the Wales side but some minute fumble forced him to remain with the club.
Reports are coming that Clement made a last-ditch attempt to bring the player to the Liberty Stadium on the deadline day on loan with an option to buy him. But the necessary formalities got delayed for some reasons and the move didn’t materialise.
But Clement doesn’t want to give up on his signature and would want to come back again in January. “That’s the thing with the transfer window, you’re trying to get so many things over the line that there must be a pecking order. That one unfortunately just got away from us.
“But it is possibly something we could revisit in January. He is a player we like so we will have to see.”
Yiadom has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Championship and could have joined the Premier League much earlier as Barnsley agreed on a deal with Huddersfield Town but the move got foiled as he failed his medical.
Alongside Yiadom, Oli McBurnie’s move to Barnsley also got cancelled due to the same reason. Clement has been looking for options following Stephen Kingsley’s move to Championship side Hull City. He doesn’t have a very well stocked fullback section and wants to enhance the quality in January.
Swansea have looked pretty inconsistent this season as they couldn’t build on their positive start. They played a convincing goalless draw with Southampton but lost the way completely against Manchester United as a late flurry of goals sank them completely.
Clement would like to beat the line and would want to complete the move as soon as the window opens in January.
