Manchester city have started their season on a strong note and are looking forward to making this campaign one of their best ones in recent times. They have won two of their first three matches so far and are looking to continue their good run in the forthcoming fixtures as well.
The Citizens have been trying their level best to get some good players this summer and have brought in the likes of Bernardo Silva, Bernard Mendy and Ederson to strengthen the squad of the new season. However, they were really interested in bringing in the Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez from fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal but were not able to get the deal done this summer.
The player has been nothing short of a talisman for the Gunners’ in the last few seasons since his arrival at the club in 2014. He has not only been carrying the onus of scoring goals for his club but also has been assisting his teammates to get the ball past the keeper on several occasions. However, his efforts have not been very well supported by the other teammates, which have eventually left the player disappointed and willing to force his way out of the North London club with Manchester City in the calling.
The Chilean marksman denied to put pen to paper on a new contract agreement in the last season and seemed destined to make a move out of the Emirates Stadium this summer. However, now that the transfer window has been closed, the player will have to stay back at the North London club as Arsenal risks losing him on a free.
It goes without saying that the presence of the ex-Barcelona player in their ranks should bolster the front line for Arsenal in the Premier League as well as in the Europa League where they will be competing for the season, being not able to qualify for the Champions League for the first time after 1998.
Sanchez is a true professional when it comes to his performance for his club and he is supposed to be continuing to do that in the forthcoming matches as well. However, with the much-desired transfer not happening, it might be detrimental for the striker to have a positive mindset while going out onto the pitch in the forthcoming matches and the decision to keep hold of their prized possession for the Gunners might backfire on them. Only, time will tell what actually happens but either ways this was a huge gamble on Arsene Wenger’s part.
