Championship outfit Leeds United went very close to securing a spot for themselves in the top six of the league table last season. Under the tutelage of Garry Monk, the Whites did show a lot of positive outputs for a major chunk of the season but withered away right at the business end of the season, which cost them a place in the playoffs.
They are plying their trade under a new manager now in the shape of Thomas Christiansen and with the pedestal Monk & co. created last season, they must be aiming to better their credentials this time around. After 5 games, they are placed 3rd in the league table with 11 points to their name, and with the productive summer transfer window, they have indeed bolstered their arsenal for the long journey that lies ahead of them.
Some of the quality names to have made their entry to Elland Road this summer comprise of Mateusz Klich, Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski, and Felix Weidwald. Christiansen has the requisite depth now to choose from and here is how we predicted the Peacocks dishing out their 4-2-3-1 lineup with a fully fit squad this season.
Defence
Weidwald has impressed by proving his calibre between the sticks so far, as in 5 appearances so far, the custodian has already accumulated 4 clean sheets to his name. Pontus Jansson should be regularly teed up with Liam Cooper at the heart of their defence, keeping in view their resilient displays so far of thwarting the attacking endeavours of their oppositions.
From the right-back position, Luke Ayling is expected to get the nod from Christiansen regularly and from the left-back slot, the 20-year-old loanee from Manchester United Cameron Borthwick-Jackson should be marauding up and down the pitch to turn the tables in favour of Leeds United.
Midfield
Former FC Twente midfielder Mateusz Klich should be partnering Eunan O’Kane to provide vision whilst going forward for the West Yorkshire based outfit. These two would be handed the responsibility of bringing energy, creativity as well as resilience in the middle of the park. Newcomer Saiz is expected to be pencilled as their no.10.
Attack
It is perceived that Alioski will be regularly engineered on the right-wing to keep spice up the scenes on the wide areas on the right, with Stuart Dallas on the left-wing to put his attacking prowess and creativity on offer. The player to lead the line should be Kemar Roofe.
