Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers were one of the busiest clubs during the summer transfer window, as they left no stone unturned to give Pedro Caixinha the necessary armoury he requires. The Gers were far from their best last season, with their self-inflicted woes damaging their prospects. They are now in the stage of a revolution under the tutelage of Caixinha and slowly but surely, it appears that the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place.
The Glasgow giants introduced as many as eleven new faces to the Ibrox Stadium over the course of the summer transfer window, including some notable names like Bruno Alves, Daniel Candeias, Ryan Jack, Alfredo Morelos, and Eduardo Herrera and these testaments are very positive ones. However, one of the players who were kept on their radar throughout the summer transfer window was Jamie Walker, although a deal failed to materialize.
Walker has emerged as a Scottish sensational after his remarkable season with Heart of Midlothian last term, whilst which he smashed 15 goals across all competitions for Hearts. As a result, the Light Blues emerged as one of his admirers and were keen to prise him out of the Tynecastle Park.
However, the Jambos were reluctant to sell their prized asset for anything short of £1million and contrarily, Rangers were not willing to dish out the said figure considering that his contract is due to expire at the end of this season.
Despite three bids from the Teddy Bears, with the last one perceived to be £500,000, the Jambos were firm in their resolve and as it stands now after the close of the summer transfer window, Walker still finds his name in the books of Hearts.
Nonetheless, one of the latest reports put forth by The Sun has stated that the Scottish attacker is set to sign a pre-contract with Rangers in January to facilitate a move to his boyhood club for free next summer.
It would undoubtedly be a dazzling move for Rangers, for Walker is a player with plenty of experience of Scottish football and his versatility of plying his trade as a winger as well as an attacking midfielder must please their fans. He is an intelligent player who creates spaces, makes crisp passes and has the requisite technical understanding of the game. Besides, he is someone who can score goals and create chances regularly and would be a super addition for Rangers.
