Crystal Palace’s Premier League woes have become even bigger following their thrashing at the hand of Manchester City. Roy Hodgson needs to fix things quickly at the Selhurst Park otherwise there won’t be enough time for them to recover from this situation.
Scoring goals has been the main problem for the Eagles as they are yet to score for a single time in the Premier League. Hodgson has gone frustrated over his side’s thrust in the attacking third and has been searching for a prolific goal-poacher who can solve this problem.
According to reports, the veteran manager has identified Khouma Babacar of Fiorentina as a possible target in January. A lot has been said in recent times over Palace’s lack of intent in front of the goal and Hodgson wants to put an end to it.
Christian Benteke has been in horrible form as the big Belgian has failed to take advantage of the opportunities that have come to him this season. He is yet to have an influence on his side and it’s his irresponsibility that has left the club reeling at the bottom of the table.
Babacar had the chance to leave the club in the summer but turned down all offers to concentrate on his Fiorentina career. But this season, he hasn’t started a single match which might have changed the current situation.
The Senegalese international has had just 60 minutes of game time in the Serie-A and might be ready for a move away from the Italian club. Brighton & Hove Albion came calling in the summer and might revive their interest in the player.
Palace have some great options on the flanks with the likes of Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha and the forward would be able to make a use of his aerial prowess should he arrive in England.
A typical fox in the box striker, he can be dangerous in the attacking third and has the ability to convert chances into goals. His pace and physicality will add some much-needed stability to the attacking core of the Eagles and he could replace Benteke as the main man for the Eagles.
As things stand, Palace are going to fight relegation and if they somehow manage to hang around till January it would be a big opportunity for the player to prove his credibility for them. The 24-year-old will be available for a much cheaper price than other young forwards and the Eagles should pounce on this opportunity.
