Crystal Palace are in all sorts of trouble at the present situation in the Premier League and are looking for a miracle to turn back their season in a positive way, so as to avoid the dreaded relegation zone. They have already faced five defeats in all their five matches so far this season and have conceded a dozen goals to add to their disappointment.
However, the newly appointed manager of the South London club, Roy Hodgson, is hopeful that his side can perform much better than they are presently doing in the Premier League. The wily tactician is looking for some fresh faces for his side, especially in defence, who might help him eradicate the loopholes and get the team out of the relegation zone.
Reportedly, the Englishman has got his eyes on the young French shot-stopper Alphonse Areola, who is currently plying his trade at the Parc Des Princes, the home of the former French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain.
The 24-year-old is one of the most highly regarded young talents in French football and has proved his worth in the last season having featured in 37 matches for his side.
He has been in the Paris Saint Germain side since 2010 but was sent on loan to play for other clubs including Spanish La Liga outfit Valencia, which has helped him develop into the player he is now and get a substantial growth in his ball handling and goal saving skills over the years.
However, the player is aware of the fact that he might have to sit out of the starting eleven once their first choice custodian Kevin Trapp makes his way back into the side, which might be detrimental to the growth of his career. Reportedly, the French youngster is eyeing a move out of his current club and is looking to join a club that can offer him first-team starts on a regular basis and help him hone his skills over the next few of years.
The Eagles are in search of a shot-stopper for the long-term and the 24-year old could be just what they need at the moment. He has immense potential and could be a huge coup for the side. However, the South London club might have to fight with their close rivals Newcastle United, who are also looking to make a bid to add the player to the side as soon as possible.
