Scottish giants Celtic made some stupendous signings during the summer transfer window in order to beef up their arsenal. With the likes of Kundai Benyu, Olivier Ntcham, Odsonne Edouard, Jonny Hayes and Patrick Roberts making a move to the Celtic Park, it would not be ludicrous to underline that Brendan Rodgers plucked some appealing talents and went on to enhance his side’s quality rather than increasing their quantity.
However, there still exists a lack of depth in the setup of the Bhoys which is required to be sorted by Rodgers. As a matter of fact, Celtic would have to meet their domestic obligations and at the same time, they would tend to erect a strong footing in the UEFA Champions League.
They are put into a group which comprises of three galvanizing and strong sides in the shapes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht and they do have some massive tasks ahead of them.
Although the summer transfer window is done and dusted, teams do have the licence to sign the players who are out of their contract, i.e., free agents, and one of the players who should be on the radar of the Glasgow based club is Joe Ledley. Ledley was released by Premier League side Crystal Palace this summer and apparently, he is yet to venture into a new endeavour. But with the calibre he possesses, teams are seemingly likely to knock his door.
The 30-year-old emerged through the youth setup of Cardiff City and made a name for himself whilst playing for the senior side of the Bluebirds, after which the Hoops made him sign on the dotted line. After four seasons with Celtic, Ledley made a switch to the Selhurst Park and after being released by the Eagles, he remains bereft of any club.
The Welsh international is someone who puts his energy, commitment and exuberance on display week in and week out and keeps the scenario pretty tidy in the middle.
He is well accustomed to Scottish football and in order to better their credentials in the elite club level competition of the continent, they would need players with pedigree which Ledley possesses. Besides, he has been a valuable asset for the Wales national side for a substantial period of time and considering that injuries and congested fixtures would impose themselves as thorns, the addition of Ledley would solve a substantial part of those problems.
