Burnley started their campaign in the Premier League this season in the best possible way, beating the reigning champions Chelsea by 3-2. They went on to draw against another biggie Tottenham Hotspur and a win against Crystal Palace has led them to currently stand in the seventh position in the league table, making it a very promising start to the season for the Clarets this term.
The man in charge at Turf Moor, Sean Dyche, however, has been worried about his side’s composition for the rest of the season with an injury making the team captain and first choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton sit out for the next four months.
This means that the England international will not be able to feature beneath the crossbars for his side till the end of the current year, making the manager to look for other options to be brought into the side for his replacement.
Dyche, however, has managed to bag a very good player for his side to play in goal in the form of Anders Lindegaard. The former Manchester United custodian is currently a free agent and has completed a move to Turf Moor to feature for them for the rest of the season.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been playing for the Championship club Preston North End in the last term, from where he was let go as a free agent. The player is one of the experienced players in English football and has played for an array of clubs in the Championship as well as in the Premier League, including the 13 times winner of the title Manchester United and featured for them on 29 occasions.
The Clarets already have a good goalkeeper in the form of Nick Pope on their side and the youngster has been performing well in the goal for his side since he was handed the opportunity to safeguard the goal after a dislocated shoulder is set to keep Heaton out of action for the next four months.
However, the gaffer does not want to leave anything to chances and has brought in the Danish shot-stopper to have a quality backup at his disposal in case there are any more contingency situations.
Dyche has been tremendously short of options, which made him get a new signing to give his side the much-needed support on goal. He is hopeful that the inclusion of an experienced player like Anders Lindegaard will help his side keep their position affirmed in the league for the rest of the season.
