Though the international transfer window for the summer has come to a close, the window is Spanish La Liga is still open for 24 hours, making it the deadline day of Spanish football. This gives an opportunity to the teams to get a transfer deal in and have a go at their desired candidates to bag them, if it is possible, in a last minute swoop.
One such transfer, which might be on the verge of happening, is the deal between the Premier League club Arsenal and the Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona, as the latter are looking to bag the German midfield maestro Mesut Ozil from the North London club in order to strengthen their squad for the new season.
The Blaugrana have faced a huge blow in the transfer window this summer, as one of the mainstays in their attack has left the side in the form of the Brazilian superstar Neymar and has joined the French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint Germain on a world record transfer deal. This has caused an uproar amongst the Barca fans as well, who are demanding a substantial figure to be brought into the side by the team management to ably replace the Selecaos skipper.
Though Barcelona have got their hands on one of the best young talents in all over Europe in the form of Ousmane Dembele, whom they procured from the German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund a few days back, they are quite sceptical of their attack for this season and might look to add a few more top class players to their roster to get them their desired lineup in the forthcoming matches.
The last season was a disastrous one by far for the former Spanish champions as they lost their La Liga title to arch rivals Real Madrid and also faced exit from the quarter final stage in the UEFA Champions League, getting beaten by the Italian champions Juventus. They are looking to make amends for the lost chances from the last term and are willing to add some more top class players to their lineup.
The German playmaker has been one of the main players for the Gunners since his arrival at the club from Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2013 and the North London club will look to keep him at their disposal for the new season as well.
However, the 28-year-old has been a contract rebel with his current club and the Catalan giants are looking to take advantage of the situation to bring him into their side. Now it is to be seen whether the surprise swoop materialises or not in the next few hours.
