Premier League outfit Watford are due to make a trip to St. Mary’s in order to lock horns against Southampton this weekend. The Yellow Army have had a decent start to their new campaign in the English top division, having collected 5 points from their first 3 outings.
Marco Silva did made some shrews signings during the summer transfer window in order to beef up his arsenal and has lured the likes of Andre Gray, Will hughes, Richarlison and Nathaniel Chalobah to the Vicarage Road. Watford drew against Liverpool, won against Bournemouth and lost against Brighton & Hove Albion so far, but they have to start to up their ante if they are desire to make a decent finish.
An away trip to the backyard of the Saints would not be a walk in the park, as Southampton is expected to impose a strong challenge to their opposition. Here is how we feel Silva would dish out his starting line-up this weekend against Mauricio Pellegrino’s outfit.
Defence
Heurelho Gomes is likely to be continued with between the sticks despite the arrival of Orestis Karnezis during the summer transfer window. To be engineered ahead of him should be a four-man defensive wall, with Molla Wague and Christian Kabasele at the heart of their defence.
Jose Holebas has served his one-match suspension and should be making a start from the left-back slot whereas Kiko Femenia is anticipated to be started from the right-back position as Daryl Janmaat is still out owing to his injury. Miguel Britos would be unavailable due to his red card suspension.
Midfield
At the expense of Tom Cleverly, Etienne Capoue should start from the middle of the park, considering that the latter has smashed a couple of goals already this season after coming on from the bench and deserves a start.
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s energy and relentless toil are heavily relied upon by th Hornets and to complete the midfield setup of three men, Nathaniel Chalobah is likely to be manoeuvred. These three players have been stupendous so far this season and they would be eager to maintain their form.
Attack
To showcase the raw pace and exuberance he has on offer, Benfica’s loanee Andre Carrillo is expected to start the proceedings from the right-wing position and on the left flank, we believe that the promising Brazilian attacker in the shape of Richarlison is likely to be chalked into Silva’s starting line-up. Andre Gray should be spearheading Watford’s attack.
