It proved to be a very productive summer transfer window for Scottish Premiership outfit, Rangers, who splashed the cash to beef up their armoury considerably and have also chalked out stupendous loan deals as well. The Gers had a forgettable season last time around in the Scottish top division, as they failed to manoeuvre any sort of a substantial challenge to their arch rivals, Celtic, and saw the Celts clinching the domestic treble.
Under the stewardship of Pedro Caixinha, Rangers have lured as many as eleven players, namely Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera, Fabio Cardoso, Alfredo Morelos, Daniel Candeias, Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Aaron Nemane, Dalcio, Graham Dorrans and Declan John, with the last one being signed during the closing stages of the summer transfer window. They have more than a decent side now and should be able to impose a serious challenge for domestic silverwares.
Here is how we believe Caixinha would dish out his starting XI with a fully fit squad this season –
Defence
Wes Foderingham should be starting under the bar as the custodian for Rangers, with two quality centre-backs in the shapes of Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso. The two newcomers have indeed injected a humungous amount of resilience at the back and it is indeed a noteworthy sign for the Gers.
Lee Wallace should be getting starts regularly from the left-back slot whereas, from the other side, we expect James Tavernier to keep his place. These two have been maintaining a neat balance between their defensive and offensive endeavours and will have a key role to play this season.
Midfield
Newcomer Ryan Jack has settled very well ever since his move to the Ibrox Stadium and has been rock solid in the middle of the park. His primary task is to shield the defensive line, with two other new acquisitions in the shapes of Carlos Pena and Graham Dorrans being stationed on his right and left, respectively.
Attack
Right up front, Kenny Miller should lead the attacking endeavours of the Light Blues. The veteran has time and again showed that despite being on the wrong side of the thirties, he still has the calibre to ply his trade week in and week out and still has the requisite attacking prowess to offer.
On the left-wing, Eduardo Herrera is likely to be seen regularly in the starting setup of the former Al-Gharafa boss whereas, on the right-wing, we anticipate Daniel Candeias to accumulate regular game time on the pitch to complete Caixinha’s 4-3-3 formation.
