Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers chalked some good deals during the summer transfer window under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo. They have already collected 10 points from their first 5 outings in the English second division, and in order to continue their good form, they might attempt to lure one or two free agents to the Molineux Stadium and here are three players they can put on their radar.
Rickie Lambert:
There was a phase in Rickie Lambert’s career when he was making headlines and creating ripples across English football when he was at Southampton. But the scenarios could only carve downward trajectories after his exit from St. Mary’s. After his scintillating productivity with the Saints, the Englishman Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City but hardly made any sort on an impact.
During the summer transfer window, Lambert left Cardiff City Stadium after cancelling his contract with the club on a mutual consent and is thus bereft of any club at this stroke of hour. Nonetheless, he does have truckloads of experience of English football under his belt and with a move to the ranks of the Wolves, he might be able to put his career back on track and also does have the calibre to help Espirito Santo’s side in earning a promotion.
Joe Ledley
Wales international Joe Ledley was recently released by Crystal Palace and he is yet to find a new club. The midfielder is still far from being an obsolete commodity and has the requisite pedigree as well as experience to ensure that midfield of his employers remains knitted in a meticulous manner. The 30-year-old is someone who injects energy into the game and toils relentlessly throughout the pitch.
Ledley is strong, imposing and keeps things pretty tidy in the middle of the park. The former Celtic midfielder is also well accustomed to English football and it is only a matter of time before a notable club pounces upon the opportunity of luring him to its ranks and there appears no reason why the Wanderers shouldn’t do the needful.
Chico Flores
For beefing up the quality of their defence, Wolves should set their sight on centre-back Chico Flores, who is unattached after his deal with the Qatari side Lekhwiya expired. The defender, who is a 30-year-old, still has some years of competitive football left in him and would be a shrewd addition.
Flores had earlier plied his trade for Almeria, Genoa and Swansea City and is technically as well as tactically very sound. He reads the offensive endeavours of his opposition well and also makes well-timed tackles, which make him an appealing commodity.
