Chelsea are looking to make it another successful season in the Premier League in order to clinch their seventh title in history. Their title defense did not begin in the most convincing of ways, as they lost their first match of the season at the hands of Burnley in a shock 2-3 defeat. However, they have clawed their way back in the competition by defeating teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Everton and are looking strong contenders for winning back to back Premier League titles.
The Blues have not restricted themselves to go all out during the transfer market and have brought in some of the top players from all over Europe. They have procured a top class striker in the form of Alvaro Morata from Spain, defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from France and defender Antonio Rudiger from Germany.
However, they could not get their hands on strikers like Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Llorente who were almost set to join them but were hijacked at the last moment by fellow Premier League rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
The West London club were also unfortunate to land two of the top English midfielders in the form of Ross Barkley and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain from Everton and Arsenal respectively, as both of them rejected a move to join the defending champions. While Barkley has stayed back at Everton after snubbing the move in the middle of his medical at Stamford Bridge, Chamberlain found it much more alluring to join Liverpool rather than Chelsea and gazumped the Blues to make a move to the Merseyside club.
However, Chelsea have been able to get themselves two good players on the deadline day, having bagged English enforcer Danny Drinkwater from former Premier League champions Leicester City and Italian Davide Zappacosta from the Italian outfit Torino.
It has nevertheless been a super busy transfer window for the Blues, who have managed to get eight players in all to adorn their ranks in the new season. The North London club will be wishing that all the new players get themselves into the groove as soon as possible and help them to get positive results under their belt so that they can successfully defend the Premier League title this season as well.
With all their new signings playing for the club, the Chelsea lineup can look something like this in the following days.
Caballero, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Kylian Hazard, Willian, Morata.
