West Ham United performed pretty dismally in the last term and are looking forward to making amends for their mistakes, thus making this season a better one for them. They have already started to bring in a number of new players into the team who can help them play well in the new term.
Having brought in the likes of Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez into the team already, the Hammers are feeling quite confident of getting positive results under their belt this season. However, they are not yet done in the Premier League transfer market and has been looking to bring in a new centre back in the form of Lamine Kone from Sunderland.
The Ivory Coast international has been eyed for quite some time by the West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic, who has been much worried about the performance of his side’s defence and considers it to be one of the main reasons behind their downfall in the last term. The Croatian is hopeful that someone like Lamine Kone can help to stabilize the backline for the team and eradicate the problems for the new season.
The 28-year-old, who has been playing for the Championship side Sunderland for the past two seasons, has been one of the key figures in their defence since his arrival. However, in the last term, he was not at his best and could not prevent his team from getting relegated from the top flight and thus ended up playing in the Championship.
His defending, ball clearance and ball control, everything has been delusional throughout the last term, which made his team suffer on quite a few occasions. However, the Black Cats are not looking to get the player out of their roster in the summer transfer market as of yet but have stated that he might be let off the hook in case the price is right for the Ivory Coast international.
The player is known for his physical presence in the heart of the defence and is powerful enough to prevent the opposition players from scoring goals against his side. He is also quite strong in the air and has a good header to deal with the aerial ball, whether it is for clearing the ball or getting it in the back of the opposition goal. However, the fact that he is a bit prone to injuries is a factor that might go against him in the long run.
