West Ham United Players Rated And Slated After A Dismal Defeat Against Newcastle United

Three games away from home is always a difficult path to begin upon but that doesn’t mean that you lose three in a row and be dismal in all of them.

West Ham United’s appalling display continued as they got blown away by a confident Newcastle team. Poor end product, a toothless midfield and a caught-out defence suffered three goals at the hands of Joselu, Clark and Mitrovic and crushed any signs of optimism. Here’s how the Hammers have been rated after an uninspiring show:-

GK: Joe Hart – 5/10

He’s had a woeful start to the season and conceding three more adds to the misery. He made a few good saves to keep the scoreline from extending but as a whole, the defence let him down majorly.

RB: Pablo Zabaleta – 4.5/10

Dealt decently with Atsu’s threat but his positioning was horrendous. He got caught too many times down the left and couldn’t provide anything from the right while moving forward.

CB: James Collins – 4/10

Largely ineffective as he watched the Magpies romp three past him.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna – 5/10

Won a few duels but again like Collins, he was helpless and ineffective.

LB: Aaron Cresswell – 5/10

Got a shot away to provide one of the biggest chances for West Ham but got out-run many times and couldn’t do much. Sad.

RM: Michael Antonio – 7/10

Arguably the best player on the pitch for the Hammers. Beat the full-backs, put in crosses, troubled on occasions but poor finishing didn’t supplement for his work.

CM: Mark Noble – 3.5/10

A really bad afternoon as Newcastle’s midfield with Ayoze Perez dropping deep overwhelmed him completely.

CM: Declan Rice – 3.5/10

Has to take the blame for losing the ball for Newcastle’s first goal and this had a huge impact on the game as it turned tables completely. Rare glimpses of talent but at times poor just like his team.

CM: Edimilson Fernandes – 5/10

Pacey at times and strong too but not of any use when Newcastle turned the tide. Didn’t provide much while moving forward either.

LM: Andre Ayew – 2/10

Probably the most disappointing player on the field. There’s so much talent and potential but extremely underwhelming and unhelpful.

ST: Javier Hernandez – 5.5/10

He was an isolated figure chasing the ball most of the time and the ball came on rare occasions to him.

Got a header away on target from Antonio’s cross and showed good reflexes to get another nice effort on the target which was saved and then cleared by Clark.
