West Ham United have had the worst possible start to their season in the Premier League, as they lost their second consecutive match to a spirited Southampton side, by virtue of a penalty awarded against them in the dying moments of the match. It was successfully converted by the Southampton forward Charlie Austin to put his team in the winners’ position and end a hard-fought battle in the favour of the Saints 3-2.
The Hammers performed better than what it was in the last match, with their new striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez scoring a brace to keep his team in the contest and a hope to win the match. However, Marko Arnautovic saw a red card in the 33rd minute to reduce his team to ten men, which became a detrimental factor for the Hammers as Southampton capitalised on this shortage of one man and pulled off the thriller in their favour.
West Ham United are currently standing in the last position in the League table and are aiming to bounce back in the next games by winning some matches and go up the table. The Hammers did invest some serious amount in the transfer market and brought in a number of attacking players into the side. However, they are now desperate to get out of the danger zone and are willing to bring in a top class forward to accompany Hernandez in the frontline.
One such player, who has been eyed by the Hammers boss Slaven Bilic for quite some time now, is the Ghanaian international Abdul Majeed Waris, currently playing for the French Ligue 2 outfit Lorient. He has been identified as one of the most highly rated players in the current situation and has been in fine form. His solo effort was not able to save his club from going down into the second tier at the end of the last season, though.
The player has been known for his superb ability to strike the ball with absolute precision and score goals from a long range outside the box as well as from inside the box. His pace has helped him to make a mark as one of the most lethal strikers in Europe in the current situation.
Since the relegation of his club, Waris has been eyeing an opportunity to get out of the outfit and go back into the top-flight. It will be an ideal opportunity for him to make a move to the Premier League and play for the Hammers who are also looking for inspiration in their attack for the remainder of the season.
