West Bromwich Albion have started their new season in the Premier League in the right way, having bagged all six points from both their matches against Bournemouth and Burnley in respective match weeks. Every department of their squad, especially the defence, has performed exceptionally well in the last two matches and their gaffer Tony Pulis will expect them to continue in the same way throughout the season.
However, there might be a small glitch in the composition and balance of their defence in case their inspirational centre back Jonny Evans looks to make a move out of the Hawthorns in the ongoing transfer window. The Northern Ireland international has been one of the players who has been eyed by many big names clubs in the Premier League in the form of Manchester City, who are looking to bag the player for the new term to strengthen their backline.
The wily tactician is looking for a suitable replacement for his inspirational defender, the option being the Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho. The French international has been kept on the sidelines since his return from Crystal Palace, where he spent the last five months of the previous season, leading the Eagles to resurrect their season and keep them in the top flight for one more term.
The Eagles also showed grave interest to sign the player for their squad in the summer transfer window but had to cool down their interest for the French international owing to his hefty price tag of the £30 million slapped on him by the Reds.
However, the Baggies are willing to take the opportunity to get the 27-year old into their team for the new term, in case they have to let go of their prized possession Jonny Evans in the forthcoming days of the summer transfer window.
Known for his physical presence and great athleticism, the Liverpool defender can be a menace for the opposition players, not letting them go past him in order to score. He is also known to have a thumping header as the main weapon in his arsenal to put the ball past the opposition shot stopper and keep his team in advantage. He can also supply long balls into the attacking third with his accurate clearances to find a teammate.
West Bromwich Albion have been known for their defensive brilliance, which they displayed to perfection in the last term as well. The inclusion of a player like Mamadou Sakho can be a great boost for their backline, given they are able to match the prescribed price by Liverpool, which should not be a problem if they sell Evans.
