Watford did extremely well to get a point against Brighton and for the game to finish 0-0. This was after Britos was sent off 24 minutes into the game and this could have cost Watford. Luckily it didn’t and Marco Silva will be impressed at how well his team coped with 10 men for well over half the game.
Heurelho Gomes, 7– For me he was one of Watford’s best player as he made a couple of good saves to deny certain goals and was very commanding in the air. As the captain, he led well and made the impossible of holding onto to get a point, possible.
Kiko Femenia, 6– The full back had a tough afternoon against Anthony Knockaert but did well going forward to get the ball in the box and try and create some chances even with ten men. He has proven to be a great signing for Silva and he will be happy at how well he’s slotted into Watford defence.
Sebastian Prodl,6– The centre-half had a good game. He did well to snuff out The Albion and had chances at the other from corners to score.
Christian Kabasele, 5– The Belgium defended well throughout the game. The defender did not get as much of a mention as his fellow centre half Prodl.
Britos,2– The centre-half had a game to forget. In the first 20 minutes, he struggled to deal with Knockaert’s pace and skill. In the 24th minute, he was sent off for a knee high lunge on Knockaert which was described as a disgraceful tackle and he was lucky he did not break Knockaert’s leg.
Nathaniel Chalobah,7– The Watford midfielder did incredibly well in the midfielder defending well with him heading away numerous crosses and making some great tackles and interceptions. For me he has been a star signing for Watford and for me will be an England centre midfielder in the future.
Tom Cleverley,6– The midfielder had an eventful game starting in centre midfield and ending up playing right back due to the sending off and an injury to substitute Craig Cathcart. He had a tough second half defending against Solly March but did the best to stop the threat from Brighton.
Abdoulaye Doucoure,6– The midfielder did well in the midfield making great interceptions and trying to get forward to help counter the Brighton threat. The Watford midfield had a tough afternoon but alongside Chalobah they did a great job.
Nordin Amrabat,5– The winger was very threatening in the first 15 minutes, making it tricky for Markus Suttner to deal with him. Unfortunately, he was sacrificed after Britos was sent off which I did not think he deserved to be.
Richarlison,4– A disappointing afternoon for the Brazilian winger as he failed to cause Brighton problems and lacked the physicality, he seemed to fade out the game and at one point I forgot he was on the pitch, which was a shame as he sounds like a promising young player.
Andre Gray,6– He struggled to hold the ball and was no match in the air for Dunk and Shane Duffy who were both very commanding.
Substitutes:
Craig Cathcart– Didn’t give a rating due to him only being on for 20 minutes. He struggled to handle March when he came on and then his game was cut short due to injury. In fairness, it was not the easiest situation to come on to.
Andre Carillo– The winger only got about 10-15 minutes and failed to really make an impact on the game barring a wide shot, not the easiest of games to try and make an impact in.
Troy Deeney– Only played five minutes. Held up the ball well but struggled to do much in the game.
