Arsenal have brought in a number of players in the team for the new season and have let go of a few in the summer to revamp the team. After their dismal performance in the Premier League last term, which saw them finish in the fifth position on the league table first time since 1998 and miss Champions League football for the next season for sure, the Gunners are looking forward to bring in reinforcements thick and fast to make their team get back to their best form once again.
The North London club have been concerned about their defence owing to it looking quite fragile in the last term and have opted to bring in one of the top class left backs in Europe in the form of Sead Kolasinac from German Bundesliga side Schalke. The Bosnian full back has been included in the side to give the defence solidarity for the next term as well as helping to initiate attacks from the wing.
However, that has put to the sword one of the most experienced players in the side, the English left back Kieran Gibbs. The 27-year-old has not been playing on a regular basis in the team for the last two years since the Spanish left back Nacho Monreal came in and now with Kolasinac coming in, it is quite obvious that the full back will be pushed down the pecking order, which have irked a possibility for the English international to leave the club in the summer.
A number of clubs in the Premier League have been interested in bringing the left back to their squad for the next season. However, Watford is looking to be in the pole position to bag the player for the next term and are ready to make a bid for him to land him at Vicarage Road in the summer.
The Hornets have faced a disastrous campaign in the last term much of which has been due to their failure to defend against the opponents properly. The new manager at the helm at Watford, Marco Silva, is looking forward to bring in someone like Gibbs, who can hold their backline against opposition attacks as well as help his team score goals in the next season.
The English international, who has played a total of 229 matches for his team so far, has also been the target for West Bromwich Albion. However, their interest has now cooled down and the player is almost set to join the Hornets in the forthcoming season.
