Watford have been a troubled team in the last term, at least in terms of results, finishing their season right on the brink of elimination from the top flight. They ended in the 17th position in the league table and are looking forward to making amends for their mistakes in the next season.
The Hornets seemed weak in all departments last season and are looking forward to bring in players who will help them to revive their dismal performance and turn the table in their favour. Their new manager, Marco Silva, is well aware of the challenges of the next season that his team is going to face and is looking to eradicate them via new players, whom they are willing to bring in on permanent contracts or on loan.
One such player, who has been eyed by the Watford boss for the next term is the Dutch international Timothy Fosu Mensah, who is currently playing for the Premier League giants Manchester United. The 19-year-old youngster has been a part of the Red Devils’ squad since joining them in 2016 and has also played in the recently concluded pre-season tour of the USA.
However, it has been really difficult for the young Dutchman to get into the first team on a regular basis, as he has been restricted to a bits and pieces role in the team. In the last season, he just appeared for 4 times throughout the whole season in the Premier League for the Red Devils, which has reportedly made the youngster sceptical about his future at Old Trafford and he is eyeing a move away from his current club in search of regular playing time on the pitch.
As per sources, it is very much likely that Manchester United are going to let the 19-year old leave on loan to a club where he can get more exposure via first team appearances on a regular basis. Watford need a player who can be a solid inclusion to their squad for the next term and are likely to be the team where the Dutchman can end up in the next term.
Fosu Mensah is known for his ability to play as a defensive midfielder, a centre back and a full back as well. His physical presence in the middle of the pitch as well as in the heart of the defence is immense and can be a determining factor in keeping the opposition strikers away from making it into the attacking third, thus safeguarding the goal.
