Tottenham Hotspur are one of the busiest sides in the transfer market at the moment as they have made just one addition to their first team in this window in Davinson Sanchez. However, Mauricio Pochettino has been looking at some of the most exciting players to add to his squad in the upcoming days and one player they are now close to landing is Manchester City starlet Jadon Sancho.
Named as the Golden Player at the European Under-17 Championships this summer, Sancho is one of the most exciting youngsters currently in the domestic circuit in the country and has been in terrific form for the junior sides at the Etihad.
He is still 17 and has a year left on his scholarship with Manchester City but sources close to the player have now revealed that he wants to quit the club this summer. Born and brought up in London, Sancho joined City after starting his youth career in London and reports claim that he wants to move back to London and prefers joining Spurs.
Also linked with a move to Arsenal, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, the 17-year old can only sign for Spurs but cannot play for the club till he is released from his scholarship, and the same reports reveal that Spurs are confident that he will be allowed to leave before the deadline day. So who is Sancho?
A left-winger by trait, Sancho moved to Manchester City in 2015 and has ever since been a regular in the domestic teams at the club. He has also played a few games for the reserves but is yet to break into the first team but at his age, is still a player learning the ups and downs of the game.
He was not a part of City’s squad that travelled to the US for the pre-season tour and it does look like Pep Guardiola is happy to let him go. Sancho is a player who loves to take on his man on the flank as his dribbling abilities and ball control in close quarters is always an asset for his side. He can cross from wide areas or cut in centrally to free up some space and is a player who is fast establishing himself as one of the best teenagers in the country.
He has 16 appearances for the England U17 side and has been influential for the national side but his best performances have come in the U18 Premier League, which is too easy for him. He has 12 goals and four assists in 14 games in the U18 competition and is ready for the next big step and a manager like Pochettino is the perfect man for him to continue his progress.
