Despite having contrasting starts to their campaign, Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Chelsea will pit some of the best players against each other in what promises to be a cracker of a game. Here is the combined line-up
Manager- Antonio Conte
Despite losing the opening game of the season on the home turf in a shocking manner to Burnley, the Italian remains the better choice over Mauricio Pochettino. A brilliant tactician, Conte has revolutionized the three-man defence in the English Premier League with almost every club resorting to it. We hope him to get over the patchy form fast.
Hugo Lloris
Although there is not much difference between Lloris and Thibaut Courtois in terms of quality, the opening game of the season remains a deciding a factor here. Despite Chelsea’s horrible defence, the Belgian custodian could have done better for the goals that the Blues conceded last week. Lloris, on the other hand, has been cool as ever.
Jan Vertonghen
Without a doubt, Vertonghen remains one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League. And the choice was way easier with Gary Cahill’s red card and Antonio Rudiger’s underwhelming display in the opening week. Apart from that, the Lilywhites have a great leader in Vertonghen that hardly any other team in the Premier League has.
David Luiz
Probably the only player in the Chelsea squad now who knows what’s going on with the side. The Brazilian international managed to keep his calm amidst the disastrous start to their campaign and even got a goal last week, but it was too late. He has been a consistent performer for the Blues since re-joining from PSG last summer.
Toby Alderweireld
Yet another player who hardly has any flaws in his technique. Matching toe to toe with Vertonghen, Alderweireld is a centre half with the most balanced attributes.
Marcos Alonso
With Danny Rose absent, Alonso surely stands the next best left-back in the league right now. Coming from Serie A, the Spaniard has adapted brilliantly to the Premier League and has been productive too.
N’Golo Kante
Despite starting the season in a shoddy manner, the Frenchman remains one of the most cherished midfielders in the league and his work rate at the centre of the park could be vital for any side
Mousa Dembele
Although not the very best of central midfielders in terms of fitness, hardly any player comes close to match his dribbling and passing skills. The Belgian has been pivotal to Tottenham Hotspur’s brilliant form over the past three seasons.
Victor Moses
With Kyle Walker off to Manchester City and Kieran Tripper injured, Tottenham are reeling under pressure to fill the role of a right back. Moses, though not at his very best, still edges past Spurs’ young Kyle Walker-Peters.
Christian Eriksen
Hands down the most effective playmaker in the league right now. The Danish midfielder has been a target for Real Madrid now and he shows why he is in such high demand. Whether from the flanks or through the middle, he can perform with equal intensity and provide some marvellous assists.
Dele Alli
The wonder kid of the Premier League has Barcelona and Real Madrid lining outside his office. At 21, he is one of the complete midfielders in the world at the moment, and there’s hardly any player better than him in his position.
Harry Kane
The top scorer of the league last season, Harry Kane is tailor made for the Premier League. When fit, there can hardly be a striker to match his potential.
