Manchester United will face a tricky test when they travel to the Liberty Stadium in their second match of the season. The Reds put on a triumphant show at Old Trafford as they steam rolled West Ham United to pick up the first three points of this season.
However, Swansea City would offer a completely different prospect as Paul Clement has seemingly brought a new brand of football to the club. The former assistant of Carlo Ancelotti took the charge in the midst of an unstable campaign and did manage to have a full command of the side as he steadied the ship and largely due to his brilliant intervention, the Swans are playing Premier League football this season.
Both the clubs have undergone a vast change and it would be very interesting to see how they approach this game. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s departure dealt a blow to the Swans but they do have the ammunition to avert the shock.
Three Key Battles
Romelu Lukaku vs Alfie Mawson
Jose Mourinho brought Romelu Lukaku to enhance United’s goal scoring prowess and the Belgian did provide him with an explosive start. The Belgian front man netted a brace and could’ve had a hat-trick against the Hammers.
However, Swansea defenders performed torridly as they leaked 70 goals last season and Lukaku is well aware of this. Following the ups and downs last year, there is a glimmer of optimism at the Liberty Stadium and Alfie Mawson will be banking on this. The youngster has been one of the finds of last season and will have the task to keep Lukaku quiet.
Tammy Abraham vs Eric Bailly
Swansea are looking for their first goal in the Premier League and it might be the best chance for Tammy Abraham to fire. The Chelsea loanee exploded in the last season as he scored 26 goals for Bristol City last term and will be looking forward to filling the void of Fernando Llorente.
Eric Bailly had a seamless transition to the Premier League since he arrived and is expected to nullify the threat of the youngster with ease.
Kyle Naughton vs Marcus Rashford
Rashford had a good day in the office as he was behind Lukaku’s first goal in the Red Devils’ jersey. The youngster has developed a lot and has vastly improved his finishing.
Kyle Naughton hasn’t been very consistent and he needs to be very sharp and alert to thwart the danger of the United attacker.
