Swansea City have found themselves in trouble so far in the new season, having drawn their first match against Southampton and then facing a crushing defeat at the hands of a rampant Manchester United side who put four goals in the back of their net in their last outing in the Premier League.
The Welsh club are looking to rethink their strategies, especially in the defensive area, having not been able to contain the opposition strikers from attacking their goal from time to time. The club coach Paul Clement has been sceptical about the defensive ability of his current squad and is eyeing a number of options to be brought into the side in order to revamp it for the forthcoming days of the season.
One such player, who has been a long time target for a number of Premier League clubs including the defending champions Chelsea, is the Colombian international Santiago Arias, playing currently for the former Dutch Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven. The 25-year-old has been targeted by the Swans, who are looking for a quality right back to contain the opposition strikers as well as contribute to initiating counter attacks for his side.
Known for his darting runs down the right flank, the Colombian ace has been a mainstay in the defence for the Dutch side as well. He can cross the ball with perfect precision into the attacking third, making it able for his teammates to pounce on the opportunities and score goals, keeping their team in advantage.
He is also equipped with the ability to block the opposition from taking shots on the goal with decisive tackles and also clearing the ball out of the danger area. His ability to unleash screamers from a long range outside the box can also come handy for his team, adding to the goal tally for them.
Swansea have been suffering from lack of consistency in their performances, which has been continuing for quite a few seasons now and will be more than happy to get players into the side who can be able to infuse new zeal into the side to turn the tables and help them get positive results under their belt.
The 25-year-old Colombian ace might be a good solution to their defensive woes, which plagued their season in the last term as well, not helping their cause to stay back in the top flight and eventually compelling them to finish 15th in the League table.
