Rangers are a club in transition and under the tutelage of Pedro Caixinha, they are breathing a new life. The Gers had a lot of self-inflicted woes to solve last season and frankly speaking, they looked miles behind their arch rivals Celtic in terms of quality as well as productivity. However, the scenarios have started to change and a new era has surfaced under the reign of Caixinha, which is quite riveting to see.
The former Al-Gharafa boss has been very busy this summer in order to make the requisite ramifications to bolster his squad in every aspect. The Light Blues have made as many as ten signings including the entry of significant names like Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Daniel Candeias, Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera to the Ibrox Stadium. However, one of the players on whom Caixinha still has his eyes on is Heart of Midlothian’s sensational winger Jamie Walker.
Walker banged 12 goals and registered 3 assists last season and emerged as one of the hottest properties of Scottish football owing to his dazzling run of form. The Scot was a livewire last season: passing the ball around crisply and imposing himself as a significant attacker.
The 24-year-old is highly rated in the ranks of Hearts and the Jambos have rejected three bids from Rangers already this summer as they are reluctant to sell him for anything in short of £1million. A late dash by the Glasgow based club, however, is expected considering the circumstances that have developed of late.
Walker’s contract expires at the end of this season and is keen to make a switch, and this is where Rangers come into the equation. The Teddy Bears are a team on the rise and after Caixinha’s relentless efforts to beef up his arsenal, it is perceived that the club’s director of football Mark Allen would be finalizing the late deals. Lately, with Allen’s intervention and supervision, Rangers could acquire the services of Manchester City’s blossoming starlet Aaron Nemane.
Allen is expected to chalk out a deal for Walker too and his entry to Caixinha’s side will surely enhance their quality. The former Scotland Under21 international has the potential to go the distance and is well acclimatized with how things dish out in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers have now collected 7 points from their first 4 league outings and someone like Walker has the calibre to ensure that Caixinha’s offensive nous keeps falling in place if a deal materializes.
