Rangers have been one of the busiest clubs this summer as far making new additions to the arsenal is concerned. The Gers have penned as many as nine signings with the likes of Daniel Candeias, Bruno Alves, Eduardo Herrera, Graham Dorrans, Ryan Jack, to name a few, being lured to the Ibrox Stadium. However, they succumbed in their last league outing, which does indicate that some more tightening of the screws is required.
It goes without saying that the Light Blues would be inclined towards making a signing or two further before the transfer window shuts down. They seemingly appeared to be miles behind their arch rivals, Celtic, in the domestic competitions as the Celts clinched the domestic treble.
If Pedro Caixinha is to ensure that his side goes toe-to-toe against Brendan Rodgers’ troops, he would have to ensure that no stone remains unturned as far as beefing up his side with galvanizing and quality names is concerned.
Heart of Midlothian’s sensational midfielder, Jamie Walker, was one of the players who was linked with a move to the Glasgow based club for a very long spell this summer. Walker was believed to be on the wish-list of Caixinha who took keen interest to make him sign above the dotted line.
However, the Jambos slapped a price tag of £1million on Walker’s collar, and as per the reports, Rangers had made a bid of £600,000. As a result, the deal failed to materialize.
Owing to the pressure which was inflicted on the Scot, he was not handed time on the pitch, which was done as a precautionary measure to help his settle down after three bids from the Teddy Bears were rejected by Hearts.
Walker could have been an astute signing for the former Al-Gharafa boss, for he is a proven package. He has an appealing knack to find the back of the net, keeps the game ticking with his shrewd passes and keep the opposition guessing with his movements.
Last season, the playmaker banged 12 league goals in 34 appearances for Hearts in the Scottish top flight, apart from 2 goals in as many games in the Scottish Cup. Nonetheless, it would be intriguing to see if anything dishes out in the dying phases of the transfer window.
