Throughout the summer transfer window, Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers have significantly bolstered their arsenal by bringing quality players to the Ibrox Stadium. The Gers have roped in ten players in their rebuilding process with the likes of Daniel Candeias, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack, Bruno Alves, Aaron Nemane and Fabio Cardoso being added to ensure that under the tutelage of Pedro Caixinha, they do erect a monumental challenge to secure domestic silverwares this season.
Despite making ten signings, Caixinha is still keen to make a late dash to uplift the quality on the left. For a major chunk of time this summer, the Light Blues were heavily linked with Heart of Midlothian’s superstar Jamie Walker. Hearts had made it clear that they aren’t willing to strike Walker off their books for anything short of the £1million mark but at the same time, Rangers are reluctant to fish out the requisite amount and have seen as many as three bids from them getting rejected by the Jambos.
With the transfer market in its final hours now, the Glasgow based outfit have turned their attention elsewhere and as per one of the latest reports put forth by Sky Sports, it is believed that the former Al-Gharafa boss has negotiated a loan deal with Cardiff City to sign Declan John. Predominantly a left-back, John is capable enough to ply his trade as a left winger and his versatility must have made the Teddy Bears chalk out a deal with the Championship outfit.
The 22-year-old emerged through the youth ranks of the Bluebirds and was eventually promoted to their senior side. He accumulated experience whilst his loan moves to Barnsley and Chesterfield. However, he has fallen out of favour under the regime of Neil Warnock, who has allowed him to feature only once after taking over the charges of the club in October last year. Caixinha had made it clear that he would pencil a deal or two, right at the end and John is the one who is on his radar now.
The Welsh international’s contract, which confines him to the Cardiff City Stadium, expires at the end of this season and it goes without saying that if he is successful in impressing at Rangers, a permanent deal might be on the cards. Besides, his stature as an outcast at Cardiff City would not enhance his chances of getting into Chris Coleman’s Welsh national side ahead of the World Cup next year and thus, he is likely to be in favour of the loan move personally to accumulate more time on the pitch and impress Coleman.
