Leicester City will kick start their 2017/18 Premier League campaign away to Arsenal on Friday.
The Foxes haven’t been able to defeat the Gunners since 1994 but will fancy their chances on Friday. This will be Craig Shakespeare’s first full-fledged role as their gaffer and he would try to guide the players in the right way.
They received a number of batterings last season as they were awful in their defence of the Premier League title. Claudio Ranieri got the sack after a turbulent campaign and Shakespeare managed to grind out the best from his players to give the season a complete uplift.
However, they would want the ongoing transfer saga of Mahrez to reach its conclusion so that they can act accordingly and hasten preparations.
Predicted 4-4-2 Leicester City Lineup Against Arsenal
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel is likely to be back in between the sticks. The Danish international had his ups and downs last season but for the most part of the season he has been pretty consistent and Shakespeare is set to unleash him again.
Harry Maguire is expected to make his competitive debut for the Foxes. He was brought in from Hull City to make a difference and he might feature in this match. Wes Morgan will be the likely partner for him in the Foxes backline.
Danny Simpson will be lining up on the right side of the defence while Christian Fuchs will be on the opposite side.
Midfield
Danny Drinkwater is still recovering from his thigh injury while Vincent Iborra has a groin problem. Both the midfielders will miss the game but that shouldn’t be a problem for the gaffer who has options in that area for now.
Onyinye Ndidi had a very decent outing last season and he will act as an anchor at the base of the midfield. Matty James’ pre-season form has been very encouraging and Shakespeare is expected to find him a place in the starting lineup.
Attack
There have been relentless speculations regarding Riyad Mahrez’s transfer. The Algerian winger has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs but as of now, the winger is in the fray to feature against the Gunners as they would desperately need his flair against the big guns.
Marc Albrighton will try to set the ball rolling from the left flank.
Jamie Vardy will be spearheading the attack and he is likely to have a new partner in Kelechi Iheanacho.
