As per one of the latest reports by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Norwich City are attempting to bring Leeds United’s midfielder Stuart Dallas to the Carrow Road before the curtain of the summer transfer window falls.
Daniel Farke’s outfit haven’t started their Championship season in a spectacular manner despite the incoming of a handful amount of players this summer.
Dallas has been existing on the books of The Whites since the start of the 2015-16 season after his move from Brentford and has accumulated notable experiences for the West Yorkshire based club.
He is a player of fine calibre and considering that he is well acclimatized with the manner as to how the scenarios dish out in the English second division, the apparent interest coming from the Canaries in order to make him sign on the dotted line makes a lot of sense at the onset.
Dallas made a strong statement during the pre-season games for his current employers and it was indeed very shocking to see his name being omitted from Thomas Christiansen’s side to face Bolton Wanderers in the opening league fixture.
He has made substitute appearances so far for the Peacocks as Christiansen is spoilt for choices to fill his midfield owing to the plethora of stars he has in this particular department and the 26-year-old has indeed been sporadically used.
The prospects of finding a place for himself in the starting line-up of Leeds United looks uncertain, and at this stage of his career, he must be eyeing to garner regular game time. Besides, his contract, which confines him to the Elland Road, expires at the end of this season.
Despite contract extensions being handed to Ronaldo Vieira, Eunan O’Kane, Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips since the start of the summer, the contractual situation of Dallas hasn’t been sorted yet.
This is where the Yellows come into the equation. Having finished 8th in the league table last season, Norwich City should be aiming to secure a playoff spot, if not an automatic qualification berth.
If they manage to secure the signature of Dallas, it would enable them to enhance the quality of their arsenal and deepen Farke’s substitute options.
However, it might prove to be a mistake on the part of Leeds United if they let the experienced Northern Ireland international leave and thus, it would be intriguing to see how they deal with this conundrum.
