Manchester City are one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market at the moment as Pep Guardiola, who has added some top quality stars to his side, is now busy trying to let go, players, who do not belong to the club next season. One such player, whose future at the club is all but over is young Jadon Sancho.
According to numerous reports, Sancho has been a no show regularly in training with the Citizens and it is understood that he is looking for a way out of the Etihad this summer. A number of clubs have already been linked with a move for the youngster but according to reports from M.E.N, he is now a target for Manchester United, who want him to swap his blue jersey with a red one.
A product of the Watford Academy, Sancho joined Manchester City just two years ago but has already made a name for himself, with some superlative performances in the junior levels.
Primarily a left-winger, Sancho is a versatile player who has been effective in more than one role in the squad at Manchester City. He worked with the club’s U18 squad for a year, before moving on to the reserves side at the Etihad last summer.
He picked up 12 goals and four assists in 14 appearances in the U18 domestic league and has also made seven appearances in the Premier League 2, picking up three goals and two assists in the previous season.
Sancho however, has risen to the limelight with his performances for the national side in the recent international tournament in Croatia. He was in stellar form in the Under-17 European Championship this summer, picking up seven goals for the Three Lions U17 side, and has established himself as an exciting prospect in the country at the moment.
The 17-year old has 13 goals in 16 national team appearances already and Manchester United have identified him as a star for the future.
The Red Devils have laid a lot of importance on the youth academy recently, and have also tried to lure products from the Academy at the Etihad. The club handed trials to City pair Edward Elewa-Ikpakwu and Ellis Simms last year and Sancho is the latest name added to that list.
The player is also ready to spend a season outside England, to make sure that his new club will not have to compensate City this summer. This is a strong stance by the player, if reports are true, so City will be ready to let him leave, but it will be interesting to see if Manchester United are able to land him anytime soon.
