Borussia Dortmund have just announced their next transfer coup of the summer! The Black and Yellows have been quite active in the market recently, signing no less than six players this summer, two of which have arrived this week.
Jadon Sancho is the next man, following the route to the Signal Iduna Park this summer, after Manchester City reportedly accepted an extremely cheap agreement for the youngster in fear of the player joining their direct rivals. But will it be a good move for the highly rated English youth International?

Borussia Dortmund, who took the player on a tour of the club’s training facilities in summer, are expected to hand him a three-year contract. They are well aware of Sancho’s talents, and thus, have overpowered Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham, who pulled out of the race last week.
In pure sporting perspectives, it would no doubt, be a difficult task for Jadon Sancho to make an instant impact in the Bundesliga. Over the years, British players haven’t quite been successful playing in the German soil. We can take Oliver Burke, for example. The Scot moved to Leipzig last summer for a hefty fee but failed to make an impact, and eventually got transferred to West Brom this summer.
However, it seems as if Borussia Dortmund have bigger plans with Jadon Sancho. The Ruhr giants are reportedly ready to hand him the number seven jersey this season, a kit left behind by none other than Ousmane Dembele. The French wonder-kid who became the second most expensive player in the history, following his €105m (potentially growing up to €147m) transfer to Barcelona just a little more a week ago. Although Dortmund have also signed experienced Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmolenko, from Dynamo Kiev, just a couple of days ago. Many fans claim Yarmolenko to be the successor of Ousmane Dembele.
But, it doesn’t look as if Yarmolenko is going to be the replacement for Dembele. The Ukrainian International is a completely different player and at 28, one would sense that he’s just too old to replace the 19 y/o Frenchman. Most of the Dortmund fans, however, think of Christian Pulisic as the Dembele replacement.
But Dortmund have other plans with the American International, and so leaves us seeking the man who can really make a proper sense of being the number seven for Dortmund. It could well be Jadon Sancho or it could just be a falsehood, after all, it’s not the kit number which really matters, does it? We don’t know for sure.
One thing’s for sure though, if Jadon Sancho is looking to make a mark into the Dortmund team, then he will have to play to his potential. We all know what happened with Emre Mor last season. The Turkish International was more focused on showing his skills rather than being a bit more productive and efficient in the final third.
He’s currently at Celta Vigo, after being released by BVB this summer. Therefore, Sancho would want to contribute to their overall team’s performance rather than just showing off his skills on the pitch. Coach Peter Bosz, likes his team to play as a cohesive unit, and Sancho needs to learn, to play together with his teammates.
His decision to reject a £30,000-a-week new contract due to fears about his chances of first team football at the Etihad showcases his maturity at such a young age, which only bodes well for Dortmund and most importantly, Peter Bosz. The former Ajax boss is known for his implementation and fearlessness of giving the younger players a chance even in the most crunch games, which serves as a glimmer of hope for the England youth International.
