Premier League outfit Manchester City have put their financial muscle on display once again as they have splashed cash left, right and centre in order to ensure that Pep Guardiola has an appealing squad this season so that they can reclaim their dominance in England as well as in Europe. City have already signed world-class players like Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Danilo, Bernardo Silva and Edersen to beef up their arsenal.
Despite their new acquisitions, the blue half of Manchester are still obsessed with their inclination to sign Arsenal’s attacker Alexis Sanchez. Manchester City have been shown an intense knack to lure the Chilean to the Etihad Stadium, but so far, they haven’t been able to make the deal cross the line. Guardiola is very keen to chalk out a reunion with the Chile international, whom he signed from Udinese when he was in-charge of La Liga side Barcelona.
Arsenal have had a forgettable start to their new season in the English top division so far, having bagged merely 3 points from as many games. After their nail biting win against Leicester City in a 4-3 goal fest in the opening fixture, they were beaten 1-0 by Stoke City and last weekend, they were humiliated by Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s men banging four goals past Petr Cech without any retaliation from Arsene Wenger’s men. Sanchez is apparently frustrated and is keen to leave the North London based outfit owing to their apparent lack of ambition.
Sanchez’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this season and every sort of negotiations to convince him to stay has failed to do the needful. He wants to play in the Champions League, which his current employers cannot afford and is thus keen to enter into a new endeavour where his high ambitions can be tried to be met. He is a proven Premier League player now and it makes perfect sense from the Citizens to be so adamant to prise him out of the Emirates Stadium.
The 28-year-old banged 30 goals across all competitions last season and City have prepared a four-year deal worth £10.8million per year for him. His move to the Etihad Stadium would automatically uplift the offensive aspects of Guardiola’s side further significantly. The Gunners have rejected Manchester City’s £50million offer to facilitate a move, but Guardiola is believed to be plotting a fresh move to test Wenger’s resolve.
