Jurgen Klopp has taken some serious strides in his time at Anfield as he has already taken the club to the Champions League next season. He has brought in a couple of exciting additions to his squad this summer but is unable to land his top transfer targets in midfield and in defence.
The Reds have found it impossible to lure RB Leipzig star Naby Keita this summer as the German outfit are adamant not to sell, but Klopp will know that they might need another midfielder for the challenges up ahead, in four different competitions next season. This has seen them scout for some decent names in the transfer market and the latest name thrown around at the moment is Portuguese sensational Renato Sanches.
The 19-year old got more than an hour of game time in a friendly against Liverpool recently but he did not do enough for Klopp to sanction a move for him this summer. But at his age, he is a perfect solution to the problem at Anfield, so should Liverpool look at him as an option this summer.
Having risen to the fore with some stellar performances in the EURO16 with Portugal, Sanches managed to earn a move to the Allianz Arena last summer but with just 17 league appearances in his debut in Germany, he is already in search of more playing time next season.
Capable of playing as the deepest of the midfielders as well, Sanches is at his best, playing as a part of the midfield three, where he can act as the link between defence and attack for his side. He is an excellent passer of the ball with some gifted technique while his vision only makes him more dangerous and the fact that Bayern are only ready to let him leave on a loan shows his potential.
He has to work on his physical strength and defensive abilities but at just 19, he is a star for the future and is also wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea in England. But Liverpool have a more impending problem Sanches can solve, making Anfield a better destination for the former Benfica star.
The Reds have Jordan Henderson and Emre Can to play as the deepest midfielder while Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana can play as a part of the midfield. Philippe Coutinho may also be dropped into this role in a new system by the manager next season and Sanches can play in any of those roles with ease.
He is not expected to be the first choice in the league but surely, Sanches will play every game in the domestic cup competitions, which will also help him gather some experience, to keep his career going. But can Liverpool settle for Sanches, having aimed for Keita?
