The transfer saga of Spanish striker Diego Costa has taken a new turn as Premier League club Liverpool is looking to bring the Chelsea outcast to Anfield to strengthen their attack for the new season. The 28-year-old has gone into a tussle with the West London club, making claims that he has been treated pretty badly. Although Chelsea have ordered him to get back to training, he has not indulged in any such activity as of now.
It started at the end of the last season, which saw the Spanish marksman become the highest scorer for the Blues in their Premier League winning season. However, a few days later, he said that he has been informed by the present club coach Antonio Conte that he is not in his plans for the new season. This started an ugly spat between the coach and the player, which has indicated that there is no return for the Spaniard into the West London club in the new season.
Now that Chelsea have already brought in Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid to replace his compatriot Costa in the attack, it is imperative for the player to find a new club in order to continue his football career. With the player looking to get back to Spain to his former club Atletico Madrid, Liverpool look to having grave interest in bringing the player into the club as well.
The Reds are already in possession of some of the best attackers in the current situation, having the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in their ranks. All of them have been playing well in the opening games of the season, having scored goals to keep their team in the advantage. However, Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in the Spaniard as well, which might be a huge boost for the team in their pursuit of glory this season.
Costa has been a prolific scorer for his current club Chelsea since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2014, having scored 58 goals in 120 games for them. Prior to that, he has been the star of the show for his former club Atletico Madrid, where he featured in 134 matches and scored 64 goals for them.
Though the Spanish forward is open to a move back to his home country, the Reds are looking to make sure that the player stays back in England and signs for them to play in the Premier League this season as well. They are ready to splash the cash but now it has to be seen that which way Costa decides to go.
