Just when it looked like Liverpool’s transfer window will not be exciting anymore, the Reds could now be pushed into the transfer market big time as they might be left with just over two weeks to search for an able replacement for one of the most important players in the squad, Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazil international is now the top priority transfer target for Catalan giants Barcelona, who are ready to do what it takes to land him. Reports claim that the player has agreed on a deal with the Catalan giants but Liverpool maintain that he is not for sale.
However, with time running out, Liverpool do not want to take any risks and are already looking for alternatives, just in case they lose him before the end of the transfer window. And they were given a huge boost in their search as PSG’s Lucas Moura could now be on the transfer market yet again.
A transfer target for Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, Moura is one of the most exciting wingers around in Europe but Neymar’s addition to the squad at PSG will push him down the pecking order this season.
Reports from La Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Lucas who was omitted from the squad for PSG’s opening game in Ligue 1, is now open to move, out of Paris. English outfit Liverpool and Italian side AS Roma are both desperate for his signature.
A product of the Sao Paulo Academy, the 24-year old joined PSG in 2013 but is yet to establish himself in the first team at the capital city. He made his international debut as a teenager and already has 35 appearances for the national side to add to his 145 appearances in the domestic league in France.
Known for his pace and versatility, Moura is a genuine winger who loves to take on his man at every opportunity. He has exceptional vision and even better technique and can create chances on a consistent basis, even against the toughest sides in Europe.
He has to work on his finishing but his ability to read the game allows him to pick up dangerous positions in the final third and that, along with his work rate, make him a stupendous option for Liverpool.
With the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool already have enough pace on the wings, but if they end up losing Coutinho, they should surely look at his international team mate, who can turn out to be even more productive in years to come.
At just 24, he is a long term option, tailor made for Klopp’s style of play but he could be a liability in the air in the final third. But do you think he is a decent option for Liverpool?
