Liverpool are sure to be one of the busiest clubs in England in the final days of the transfer market as they have not been able to land most of their top transfer targets this summer transfer window. Jurgen Klopp is finally looking at alternatives to add to his squad before the deadline day, which is fast approaching, but that has also led to some ridiculous rumours resurface from the past.
In what has now become a familiar story for Liverpool fans for the past three transfer windows, the Reds are yet again linked with a move for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema. Spanish news outfit Diario Gol have today run a story claiming that the Spanish giants have decided to sell Benzema this summer and that Liverpool have already made an offer for the French international.
Known for sensational finishing and even better dribbling, the 29-year old has established himself as one of the most prolific goal scorers in world football at the moment. Strong in the air and with his hold up play, Benzema is a beast in front of goal and has a cannon for a right foot that can find the back of the net with similar precision.
He is a smart player who is always aware of his surroundings and is adept at creating chances for his side in the final third. His intelligent moment and ability to work hard outside the box is something that might attract Klopp, but there are more reasons than one, to tell that this story as is as made-up as they come.
For starters, Dario Gol claims that Real Madrid are only ready to off-load him if his valuation of £92m is met. Liverpool are yet to spend half of that amount on a player in their entire history and it is impossible to see them shatter their transfer record for a player, who is not even a necessity.
Klopp has used Roberto Firmino as the first choice number-9 this season while Daniel Sturridge seems to be right behind him in the pecking order. Dominic Solanke may have surpassed Divock Origi already for Klopp while Danny Ings is patiently waiting for his turn. Their newbie Mohamed Salah can also play in that role, adding more dynamism to their attack and Benzema just does not fit in this lineup.
Benzema scores at a rate of a goal in less than two games in almost every competition he plays, for every team he has ever played. He is easily one of the best in the business and is not someone Real will want to lose this late in the transfer window. So we can all but surely say that this rumour is made up only for filling up numbers.
