The Championship is due to start this week and all the clubs have settled pretty well so far. Shrugging off last year’s disappointing end, Leeds United have started to get back to life under their new manager Thomas Christiansen and would be looking for some redemption in the next season.
The Yorkshire club have been missing from the Premier League for more than two decades and the upcoming season is going to be a different challenge for the Whites. Garry Monk led the club to a commendable seventh place finish but after all the hard work last season they missed a spot in the playoffs by a very narrow margin.
Monk couldn’t get the job done and the onus is now on Christiansen to deliver. The gaffer has already made a bulk of signings and needs to pick up from where Monk had left the club. Leeds could make some more signings to improve their squad depth and they have added another player to their fold as the Whites have confirmed the signing of Ouasim Bouy.
The 24-year-old midfielder can play in a number of positions and Christiansen could have used his versatility very profusely in the upcoming season but the club have decided to send him on loan. A centre-back is essential at this moment as Leeds currently only have three recognized centre-backs in Pontus Jansson, Matthew Pennington and Liam Cooper and Bouy could have been a very effective addition but now he is set for a spell in Spain, the gaffer might have to look for other options.
Elland Road has already seen seven new entrants at the club and Bouy is the eighth one. He has been on the books of Juventus since 2012 but so far has made a single appearance for the Serie A champions.
He had been at a number of clubs on loan and impressed in patches but an injury in 2013 curtailed his progress. His most impressive spell came in the last season with Dutch side PEC Zwolle as he racked up two assists for them.
He started as a midfielder initially but with time, he made a pretty smooth transition to defence and had been pretty successful last season. He will join the Spanish second division side Cultural Leonesa immediately for the next season.
He will have the chance to redevelop his skills at the club and who knows he might break into the first team of Leeds in the future.
