This week’s Premier League once again looks to have some big games on show. Liverpool take on Arsenal in what should be a high-intensity exciting game. New boys Huddersfield host Southampton as they look to continue their shock unbeaten start to life in the Premier League.
Elsewhere, Burnley travel to Spurs in hopes of repeating their performances at Chelsea on the opening day while Harry Kane still looks for his first Premier League goal in August.
Speaking of Chelsea, they host Everton who managed to earn a point at Manchester City on Monday. The rest of this week’s fixtures include Bournemouth vs Manchester City, Crystal Palace vs Swansea, Newcastle vs West Ham, Watford vs Brighton, Manchester United vs Leicester and West Brom vs Stoke.
But who should you sign for your FPL team this week? Here are three suggestions.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (8.2)
Manchester United are a very different team to the one we saw last season. They are playing much more exciting creative football and look like serious title contenders. United have picked up back to back 4-0 wins so far this season against West Ham and Swansea and are showing no sign of slowing down.
One man who has been key to United’s success this season and one you should have in your FPL team is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Mkhitaryan has started both of United’s games this season and has been pulling the strings and creating chances.
So far, Mkhitaryan has managed an impressive four assists already this season. Two in each of his respective games. This shows he is key to United scoring goals and that he looks to be one of the top attacking midfielders in the league this season. Four assists are also the most in the Premier League this season which shows how well Mkhitaryan is doing.
Manchester United are at home to Leicester City in game week 3. Leicester are a good side, however, they are having problems at the back. They leaked four goals on the opening day to Arsenal. Also, Leicester are suffering from several defensive injuries. Both Robert Huth and Wes Morgan are out injured leaving Leicester without their two main centre backs. This will surely spell trouble for the Foxes when they face high scoring United and if United are scoring goals, you can be sure Mkhitaryan will be getting some assists.
Christian Eriksen (9.6)
On the subject of assists and attacking midfielders, another CAM to watch out for in game week 3 is Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen has probably been Spurs’ best player so far this season. He assisted both of Tottenham’s goals in their 2-0 win at Newcastle. He also assisted Spurs only goal in their defeat to Chelsea.
The Danish playmaker has always been great at earning assists. Last season he earned an impressive 20 in the league and this year he looks to be continuing that trend.
Another reason you should sign Eriksen for game week 3 is because of Spurs’ opponents this week. Tottenham are at home to Burnley. This means Spurs are pretty much guaranteed a win as Burnley’s away record is absolutely terrible. They have won just two of their last 20 away games. So, as Burnley are so poor away from home, it’s very likely Spurs will score a few goals and Eriksen will almost certainly be involved.
Sergio Aguero (11.5)
The final player you should sign this week is Sergio Aguero. Aguero is one of the more expensive players in FPL. But he should be worth it this week.
That is because this week Manchester City play Bournemouth who are having a terrible start to the season. So far this season Bournemouth have played two league games and lost both. These games were against Watford and West Brom who are not exactly the top tier clubs. Moreover, Bournemouth have yet to score a goal this season which shows that they are in serious trouble.
With City having such an attacking threat and Aguero being the main source of that threat, you can be certain Aguero will be causing Bournemouth’s defence some major problems this week.
Aguero has also scored at least 20 goals in his past three Premier League seasons which demonstrates what a top goal scorer he is and what a safe bet he is to have in your FPL team.
