Ronald Koeman’s Everton have made a sizzling start to their campaign this year as they have won their league game and also their European qualifier, giving them loads of confidence early this season. The Blues lost Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and though they have bought in the likes of Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney, are still a bit short on quality in front of goal.
Lukaku was the top scorer for the club last season and will not be easy to replace immediately but reports today suggest that Koeman is looking at a short-term fix for this solution.
In what is a shocking story, the Sky Sports now report that Ronald Koeman is open to adding Costa to their attack on a loan till January this summer. The Spanish international, who was the top goal scorer for the English champions last season, was asked to quit Stamford Bridge early this summer by Conte.
The player has now revealed he will not be making a comeback to Chelsea and that he is waiting to join Atletico Madrid after the FFP ban is lifted on the La Liga outfit. This will mean that he is without a club until the turn of the year making a loan deal to Everton a possibility. So is Costa a decent option for Everton?
Known for his aggressive approach and deadly finishing in front of goal, Costa is a tailor-made striker for the English league and his attributes will allow him to be a hit at any club he plays for. He can run at opposition while is also capable of hold up play and is a target-man of the highest order in England.
He has loads of experience, winning two league titles in three years in England and is probably a better option as a striker than any other player at the Goodison Park at the moment.
Koeman will naturally want himuntilstay till the end of the season but having him till January is not such a bad option either. He can walk into the first team and lead the line for the first half of the league season. And with him leading the line of attack, Everton can allow their new signings enough time to settle in at the new club.
At 28, he is easily one of the best strikers in world football at the moment and though Everton have spent insane amounts on an array of players, Costa’s addition will probably be their best buy this summer.
